1. Agreement
By downloading or using DartTrip ("the app"), you agree to these Terms. If you don't agree, don't use the app — that's it, that's the deal.
2. What the app does
DartTrip suggests a random real-world destination within a driving range you set. It pulls public map data to find towns, restaurants, parks, and other points of interest. It is provided for personal, non-commercial entertainment.
3. Use the app responsibly
You agree to:
- Drive safely. Don't operate the app while driving. Set your destination first, hand your phone to a passenger, or pull over.
- Respect the destination. The dart may land on places that are private property, closed to the public, or simply somewhere you shouldn't go uninvited. Use common sense. Don't trespass.
- Follow local laws. Border crossings, road rules, opening hours, weather conditions, and your own physical safety are your responsibility — not the dart's.
- Don't abuse the app. No reverse-engineering, scraping, or automated requests that hammer the public APIs we depend on.
4. Accuracy of information
The places, distances, and amenities we show come from public sources (mostly OpenStreetMap and Wikipedia). We do our best to surface real and useful information, but:
- Data may be outdated, incomplete, or wrong.
- A "restaurant" we show may have closed last week.
- The drive time is an estimate based on average speeds, not real-time traffic.
- Photos are pulled from Wikipedia and may not represent the current state of a place.
Always check before you commit to a long drive.
5. No warranty
The app is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind — express or implied. We make no promises that the app will be available, error-free, or that the dart will land somewhere worth visiting. Some destinations will disappoint. That's part of it.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, DartTrip and its creators are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. This includes (but isn't limited to): wasted petrol, disappointing brunches, awkward first dates, getting lost, traffic fines, or that village in the middle of nowhere being shut on a Tuesday.
7. Your content
Ratings, reviews, and notes you create stay on your phone. If you choose to share a card to social media, you're publishing it under that platform's rules — DartTrip has no control over what happens once it leaves the app.
8. Intellectual property
The DartTrip name, logo, and app design are owned by us. The map data is © OpenStreetMap contributors and used under the ODbL licence. Wikipedia content is used under CC BY-SA.
9. Affiliate links
The app may include affiliate links to third-party services (such as hotels or activity bookings). If you book through one, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. Affiliate links never influence which destination the dart picks — that's purely random.
10. Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the latest version. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
11. Termination
You can stop using the app at any time by deleting it. We may discontinue the app or revoke access if you violate these Terms or abuse the service.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. Any disputes will be resolved in the Dutch courts, unless local consumer law in your country gives you the right to bring a claim elsewhere.
